How the Course Works
As with the Getting Started in Art Photography course, this is a self-paced online programme designed to be completed over eight weeks—though many students choose to take longer, allowing time to explore each technique fully. Lessons are added to your course library weekly; you can revisit them whenever it suits you.
Also, similar to the first course, you’ll be included in a private class group where you can share your work, ask questions, and connect with others doing the course. Every four to six weeks, Martin Osner hosts a live question-and-answer session. These sessions are recorded and made available directly in your course library. It’s a chance to ask for support, hear from fellow artists, and stay inspired.
When you enrol, you’ll also receive six months’ complimentary access to the Inspire Community—our creative space for photographers. It includes monthly challenges, regular open Q&As, and a curated stream of inspiring work shared by members worldwide.
This course is a natural progression for anyone who has completed Getting Started in Art Photography and wants to keep moving forward creatively.

How others are experiencing the course...
“My weekly fix and creative escape”
This course has been a natural and exciting continuation of the first. I’m loving the journey—it’s opened up new ways of thinking and creating that I never expected. The techniques are beautifully layered and so cleverly taught. Both courses have honestly become my ‘fix’, my ‘me time’—something I look forward to every week. It helps to bring the noise of the world down a notch or two. I’ve already decided I’m going to carry on into fine art photography once I’ve completed this course.
— Tessa Fernández, Argentina
“More freedom, more confidence, more connection”
“I’ve found this second course to be just as inspiring as the first, but with even more room to experiment and grow. The weekly lessons help with rhythm, but I also really appreciate the flexibility to go at my own pace. Having access to Martin’s feedback and being part of a group of like-minded artists has made such a difference. It’s helped me build confidence and given me a creative outlet I didn’t know I needed.”

Frequently asked questions about the Art Photography Courses
Do I need to complete the first course before this one?
Yes, this course is designed as a follow-on from Getting Started in Art Photography. The techniques and creative foundations from the first course are built upon here, so it’s best suited for students who have completed that journey.
We understand choosing the right course is a big decision. Here are answers to some of the most common questions about Martin Osner’s Art Photography Courses. If you still have questions, feel free to contact us.
Are the lessons released weekly as before, and can I continue at my own pace if it takes longer?
Yes, the course is structured with one new lesson released each week over eight weeks. However, there’s absolutely no pressure to keep to that schedule. We know that creativity takes time and that life doesn’t always move in neat weekly blocks.
All modules remain in your course library once they’re released, so you can revisit them anytime and progress at your own pace. Whether you complete the course in eight weeks or spread it out over several months, you’ll have the space to explore each technique thoroughly and return to them whenever you need.
This flexibility ensures that your creative journey stays enjoyable and manageable—no deadlines, no pressure. Just steady growth, in your own time.
What type of camera and software do I need to do this course?
To successfully engage in this course, a DSLR or Mirrorless camera is preferred due to their versatile capabilities. Alternatively, a high-quality bridge camera equipped with full manual mode and the ability to capture images in RAW format will also suffice. Additionally, please note that certain techniques within the course involve the use of smartphones, tablets.
As for software, while Adobe Creative Cloud's photographers package is recommended, the demonstrations primarily utilise Adobe Camera Raw developer and Photoshop and the free Snapseed app for smartphones and tablets.
Otherwise, any editing software or RAW developer that you are comfortable with can be used.
What makes this Art Photography Course unique?
Going Further in Art Photography isn’t just a collection of random lessons—it’s a carefully structured continuation of your journey. Each technique builds on what you’ve already learned in the Getting Started course, offering new ways to work with abstraction, texture, and layered visual storytelling. The course is rooted in Martin Osner’s personal process as an artist and educator, making the material truly one-of-a-kind.
What also sets this course apart is the blend of creative freedom and ongoing support. From your class group to live Q&A sessions and access to the Inspire Community, you’re surrounded by like-minded artists and guided mentorship. It’s designed to feel personal, thoughtful, and creatively expansive—without overwhelming you.
Is this a fine art photography course?
This course leans more toward art photography with a decorative and expressive focus. While not strictly fine art photography, it helps prepare you for that transition—especially in how it introduces abstraction, distortion, and layered textural work.
Where will I access the course once I’ve purchased it?
Once you’ve enrolled, the course will be added to your personal library on the Art Photography Academy platform. Simply log in to your account, and you’ll find all your course content neatly organised in one place.
Every course you take through the academy is stored in this same library, making it easy to revisit lessons, review techniques, or continue where you left off—whenever it suits you. This ongoing access allows you to learn at your own pace and return for inspiration or clarification as often as you need.
Do I need to know Photoshop to do this course?
As with the Getting Started in Art Photography course, prior knowledge of Photoshop is not required. The focus of the course remains on hands-on, creative techniques that don't rely heavily on digital tools. You will, however, need some form of photo editing software to prepare your images for printing and presentation.
While we demonstrate using Photoshop because it's the most popular and widely supported, you’re welcome to use any good-quality photo editor you’re comfortable with. Optional Photoshop techniques are included in the course, supported by clear, easy-to-follow instructional videos that are suitable even for beginners.
If you’d like to dive deeper into digital editing, the Art Photography Academy also offers dedicated Photoshop courses designed especially for artists and photographers.
How do I receive feedback if I need assistance?
As with the first course, you’ll be added to a dedicated class group (called the Class Circle) where you can share your work and receive feedback from fellow students, Martin Osner, and his teaching team. It’s a space for conversation, encouragement, and constructive critique as you move through each technique.
You’ll also have access to a question and answer group where you can post queries about any part of the course, whether it's something technical or creative.
To further support your learning, regular live Q&A meet-ups with Martin Osner are scheduled every four to six weeks. These sessions are recorded and added to your course library, so even if you can’t attend live, you won’t miss out on the guidance or inspiration.
In addition, you’ll receive four months of complimentary access to the Inspire Community—an ongoing creative space filled with artists, many of whom have completed this very course. It’s a great place to stay motivated, ask for input, and find fresh inspiration. If you choose to remain subscribed after your access period ends, the community is always there to support your journey.
